西雅圖通宵交通一問

據當地朋友指出,西雅圖很多露宿者會選擇於通宵巴士上睡覺至天光.請問有什麼巴士路線是有機會出現這種情況呢?

西雅圖所謂嘅通宵路線(即係貓頭鷹路線)只有︰
7,49,81,82,83,84,85,120,124同280
雖然叫通宵，但其實只係凌晨1點到4點隔一個鐘開一班
80系同280就更加每晚只有2班，喺2點幾同3點幾開
兜西雅圖一個圈，返到downtown都只係1個鐘多少少
根本係未天光
所以唔存在有露宿者藉住巴士瞓覺等天光嘅情況
而且巴士要俾錢，露宿者何來有錢搭巴士？仲有巴士公司係唔會俾佢地咁樣做

Actually from my previous working experience at the Social Service sector in Seattle, Homeless sleeping in bus are actually true especially during winter months, there were actually guidelines issued within King County Metro regarding this matter.  During the winter month, u can def. see quite a number of homeless that stay warm at the owl services (especially in the 8X & 280 svc).  and drivers will actually turn on the heater of the bus during layover.  furthermore, 90+% of homeless will get a free or reduce travel pass for King County Metro to travel on, which is one of the benefits for the homeless in our city (The other will be WA DSHS Medicaid for free medical services within Western WA.)

Actually King County Metro is run as a social/ city svc rather then a transportation business. since it's 100% own by the King County gov.  Metro also in charge of the county's water supply.  If they were run as a business, then svcs like 203/ 204, 213, and others will probably be cancel a long time ago.  (Note: the inner Mercer Island svcs, ie: 203/204/213, usually get less then 40 riders a day, but they have to keep running because some senior citizens don't drive in the island).

Of course, as a normal residence of Seattle, you will have to pay for bus service, but check out the DSHS website, you will actually find benefit details of low income individuals on transportation, housing, medical, children service, etc.  also, when u travel on route 7/ 43/44 or 49, try count how many passenger with free/ reduce fair passes, you will be amazed. Compare to other cities in US, Seattle is consider once of the few cities that offer ample social services including transportation.
