ex KMB S3BL enters service with Bigbus London

Dear All,

the first of the 12 S3BL sold by KMB [via a dealer] to Bigbus for sightseeing service in London, entered service in London on Saturday.
Here is Olympian 6 in service today in Regent Street.
The engine was changed [it sounds different!] and the ex Hk identity is not known!

In fact, some of them have, some doesn't. You can try to find in the engine cab only.

Well, for all 12 units HK Reg no., please refer BFW "Bus Focus"

Well, unless one of us guys went into the garage and ask for permission to check the engine cab, which is a very slim chance of happening.  I dont see any chance of reading the chassis number of these 12 (soon to be 18??) units.  Within the anti-terror law and stop and search requests, bus spotting, particularly in London, is becoming more harsh.  I just couldn't think what would happen if anyone is dare enough to open the engine cab while the bus is on stand.  A few holes on their head, huh?

18!? I don't think so...HK side have finished all 12 units S3BL and sent to UK. They are now working on 3 ex-NWFB DA class....(DA13, 29 and 30)

Or try to get on board and try to see the black area over the windscreen...any HK reg no. masking still can read....

Shame...if I know you guys will follow this case before the buses ship to UK, I should put some marking to let you check!!!

well, i dun think i can put too much ink on this.  But here in the UK, we have received 3 units so far.

I have to say, 'they' (your refering to) did a very good job on the "cut-and-cover" upstairs.  Should be alrite for the climate "over-there".

I did ask permission to check all 3 of the units out.  Only one of them cold be identified as a Kowloon Bay bus.  That particular one might probably be Olympian duh?  Mind you Lesile, dont forget the YELLOW / BROWN paint in the interior.  All of the 3 units I've been on were totally covered in new paints and also the fleet number tags at the windscreen were all gone. well they did a great job......  so there's no way for me to ID the 3 units.  shame......

I only heard someone had posted the notice to offer a few Leyland Olympian(S3BL) from Hong Kong for sale. It is shocked that those buses may(will?) be purchased by The BIGBUS Co.

so the rego label on the windscreen doesn't carry VIN like New Zealand right?
