V/LINE CUSTOMERS THE BIG WINNERS IN TICKETING CHANGES
· Customers will V/Line tickets will be able to transfer to metropolitan and regional bus services at no additional charge from late April 2006.

· V/Line customers will get free travel within the metropolitan zone of their destination. For example: a V/Line ticket to Melbourne is valid for travel within Zone 1. A V/Line ticket to Werribee is valid for travel within Zone 2. A V/Line ticket to Dandenong is valid for travel within Zone 3. Locations printed on V/Line tickets will be updated to reflect this in April (eg. “Dandenong” becomes “Dandenong Zone 3”, “Melbourne” becomes “Melbourne Zone 1”).

· Most V/Line tickets holders will get unlimited travel in their destination zone/regional city. Single tickets will allow customers to transfer between services to get to their final destination (customers will have one hour to transfer).

· Customers with V/Line tickets to Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Moe, Morwell & Traralgon will receive free travel on the urban bus networks in those cities.

· Integration will be provided in late April 2006 to provide V/Line customers and staff three months to get used to the new ticket types in advance of integration.

· From January 1, V/Line tickets will be valid for specific days. This allows staff on metropolitan and regional bus services to know if the ticket is valid for that particular day.

· V/Line will introduce new ticket types from 1 January. The new product range will include Single, Day Return, Off-Peak Single, Off-Peak Day Return, Weekly, Monthly and Date-to-Date tickets. This product range provides a number of benefits for customers including the ability to obtain an Off-Peak Single ticket for the first time.

Example
East Geelong to St.Kilda
A customer can catch a Geelong Transit bus to Geelong Station, transfer to V/Line for travel to a brand new Spencer Street/Southern Cross Station and then board tram 96 at a new platform level stop immediately outside the station. The tram travels via the light rail line to St.Kilda. V/Line tickets can be purchased in advance.

Current Adult Fare One Way (2005):
Geelong Transit: $1.60
V/Line Geelong to Melbourne: $10.40
Metcard Zone 1, 2hr: $3.10
Total: $15.10
