Anyone knows when the B5LHs will be in service on the streets of London?
Also, did anyone happen to see V6 in the last few weeks? I went to London last Saturday, but it wasn't on run 12-217.
I asked the 217 driver if V6 was in service, but I could tell he was messing with me. |

V6已經一個多月無出車,相信較早前已經''歸還''富豪。 |

Thanks for the link, that is actually an interesting presentation - although I have seen some of the information from another TfL presentation at about the same time.
The step at the back of the B5LH is hard to understand, however, I have not seen a photo of the chassis itself and thus it is difficult to tell why it is there in the first place. I tend to agree that it is more sensible than a steep ramp, though.
The location of the battery of the chassis is not really a major matter, mainly because, I think, it is designed to accommodate the UK and European layout. If, say, any operator wants the wheelchair spaces at nearside forward, there is no reason why the battery pack cannot be moved to somewhere else, although that will involve moving some of the aux air tanks as well I suspect.
I have to say though, the B5LH chassis design is clearly done with a view to share it with the 7900H. Afterall, at the time it is conceived, Volvo must have though that there is no commercial value to do a bespoke design for the UK market, because there is no guarantee that it would sell as well as it is at the moment. More importantly, the UK market has moved on in the last 10 years or so and the resistance of a chassis layout like that is no longer there, so what's the point of changing? From the layout point of view it is not ideal, but with almost 500 examples in service/ordered, I don't think it is a big deal either.

The front axle module of the B5LH should be the same as the B5TL, B9TL and B7/8RLE. So having a forward seat is indeed not an issue. Afterall, The E400 bodied B9TLs feature those seats anyway.
Because of that, I will not be surprised that these Stagecoach B5s will have those seats as well. |
