Edward,
You are right; the ex HK double decks are not that popular over here.
The ex 3BLs from KMB are the only hotdogs in regular service in the UK, with Magicbus in Manchester on [mainly] route 216. Those buses will be withdrawn when Stagecoach get their new E400 in Manchester.
The other hotdogs are used as school buses in various places in the UK. The school contract runs twice a day- am and pm during term time, and the rest of the time the bus is not used. As long as the contract does not require a newer bus- i.e. low floor or Euro standard engine, those buses would survive.
The Air cond buses: Megabus do not use their olypians as much as before, and they will be withdrawn within a year from main services.
other air cond buses are used for school contracts too.
The problem is that the buses exported to the Uk are now old, and most operators will not buy them for day to day normal operation.
Heat in the UK? what heat? we had two terrible weeks in July, but, August? temp in London never rose above 22-23 c!

No one knows! what is fairly certain is that the buses would not be used on any all day service- perhaps some school contracts to replace even older buses.
