Since you have said that First Class is Full already... The chance of Business Class passenger being upgraded is minor... Since you may want to know that all flights for the coming week have been fully and over booked in many cases...
By which means, for both First and Business Class themselves, there will be passenger have to fly on the following day or with BA/QF instead... Unless there is quite a few no-show at First Class, otherwise upgrade from Business to First Class is simply not possible...
And for the same reason, I believe getting a upgrade from Economy to Business Class is not so possible either... Unless there is a over 10% no-show their Business Class (Since it has been over booked by around 5 passengers each flight)...
So in this situation, I would suggest you to take the GBP300 as being upgraded on the same flight is simply not likely (However, I am not ruling out the possible of a huge amount of no-show passenger at Business Class)...

just phoned to CX, that person answered the call was not polite at all...

Very unlikely to see the no show, the chances to get upgrade from Business to First are very minor!

The website shows there are seats is because people still hasn't check-in online, but at the end of the day CX252 will be packed including those 'overbooked'.

Taking the term 'overbooked' as the golden rule, Christmas break always full of students and no spare seats

I will just take the money and then travel on the next day instead!

So that means that flight on that day is not full at all~~

And other UK travel agents has stopped their tickets selling in any CX fights on 15th already....

As I mentioned earlier, CX252 will take the overbooked CX pax as standby,
as you said other UK travel agents has stopped their tickets selling in any CX fights on 15th already, simply means CX needs the flight to divert those pax who accept the offer.

So do you think that I should do online check-in upon travel or,
I should go to check-in counter on that day, in order to get a chance for upgrading~

I dont think I should make the decision for you at this stage and it is up to you whether you think you wanna risk or not.

You have made up your mind already, do what you think is the best
