等開車 means that the train has come to the station, and wait a few minutes until it close the door and go to the next station. It is a regulation for Tung Chung Line in Lai King station because passengers have to change the line.
等車 means that the passengers have to wait for the cars before they can get aboard.
Actually, the time for 等車 and 等開車 is meaninglessly long for Tung Chung Ling, and hence no many passengers is not actually using it to go to the cities. For the guys living in the south, they are usually using 88D.

I can't get what you mean. Do you mean not many people actually use TCL to go to the city??
If so, I can't agree with you. As another broad mate said, people can't even get on TCL trains at Tsing Yi.

For Cheung On Estate or Tsing Yi Estate, most people would rather walk 10 to 15 minutes to take MTR and that's why not many passengers in Tsing Yi North use 948.
But for Tsing Yi South, 948 is actually faster than MTR. |
