Those "people movers" are running at a frequency of 1 min to 3 min all day in Singapore.
Each mover can carry 105 passengers. The system will then be able to funnel more than 10,000 passengers into Diamond Hill Station (clockwise+anticlockwise) every hour. This is more than enough for Tse Wan Shan residents.
But the main problem is: there is no doubt that the mini-buses will be eliminated after the people mover system has been built. So, where will all the mini-buses and their drivers go?? I am pretty sure they will go on strike if the gov plan to get that built.

Well, at least some money should be spent to compensate the loss of the residents for not having a station, not just a quick and cheap fix of the mini-bus network.
How much will MTR save for NOT building Tze Wan Shan Station?? Let's say half a billion.
As MTR said that NOT building the station is simply a technical issue rather than a financial consideration, MTR should spend the equivalent amount on alternative transport, like the people mover system I suggested earlier.
I am sure MTR will get better return to build a community mover system as it's going to attract more passengers than just building a heavy rail station.

原來東涌綫最新規劃,只延長至炮台山站而已。
其實很可能只是港鐵在現階段(即着眼點是沙中線工程)不希望令乘客/居民產生混亂,
所以在繪畫路線圖時才不拆解港島線。 |
