How do they detect it, by radar, funny Brits..what if I have those small portable TV, do I still have to pay.

TV License's letter has mentioned they got special equipment to detect TV signal from anywhere, but I don't know in depth about how they work.
About small portable TV, For example: if I live at students' hall to use it, that letter has mentioned 'A TV receiver powered solely by its own internal batteries may be covered by your parents' TV Licence.' |

haha, gum if you are international student and only u live in UK, then u have to pay for it...this is the first time I've ever heard about this license thing, but is there alot of people not paying for them...

每逄大學開學時, 電視, 報紙雜誌, 街頭廣告版, 甚至巴士車身都會賣 TV License 的廣告,
記得廣告話 'Easier to Pay, Harder to Avoid' ; 'It's better for you to visit us rather than we visit you.'
講開我好多同學就算屋企/宿舍有電視都未必會買.
如果佢地住埋同一間屋, 就可以夾份買一個 TV license.
