As far as I get, "irony" usually refers to some kind of facts
that look ridiculous, while the noun describing the speech
concerned is "sarcasm".

I've looked up the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary (7th edition) and one meaning of "irony" is as below: -
2. [n.] the use of words that say the opposite of what you really mean, often as a joke and with a tone of voice that shows this. |
